Chris Thompson: Press

"Trumpeter Chris Thompson surrounds the satin-smooth tone of his horn with an array of contemporary musical sounds... his melodies flow with open horn and a free spirit that respects lyric responsibility".
Jim Santella - All About Jazz (Sep 30, 2005)
"Chris Thompson is definitely on the right track."
Charles Tolliver, Legendary Jazz Trumpet Player
"This is a first-class collection of some of the finest, hard-to-categorize music I've heard... If I had to describe the disc to someone else, I'd call it a groove-heavy bit of world-informed Jazz, on top of well-integrated bed of electronica. But that's way too many syllables... Let's just called it sublime Trumpet-tronics... ".
Dr. Strangedub (Michael Rose) - KFAI-FM 90.3 Minneapolis
"It's fantastic! and made me surprised because Chris composed and played all tunes by himself, SUPERB!!! talented trumpet player inspired by Miles Davis..."
Yasuhiro "Fuji" Fujioka - Record Collectors (Japan) (Oct 15, 2005)
The Mix is good and the Rhythm is jazzy and upbeat. However, the Trumpet is what makes the song. It is AWSOME! I love it when artists use the trumpet in electronic music. Great delivery, it shows really good musicianship.
Alla Fadan, Highspire, PA
Oh man this is great stuff. I love the way electronic can keep redefining the Jazz genre as if it was it's own origin. Amazingly nice trumpet... Just the way jazz should be : rhythmic music with lots of room for improvisation by more melodic elements. This is a pleasure for the ear. I always seem to like jazz and electronic mixed. Maybe I can put that down as one of my new tastes in music: Electrojazz. Keep up the good work.

From a review of the Maña CD, "Estamos Gozando", on the Dusty Groove America website:

"... and there's a really jazzy feel in the horn parts from trombonist Christian Kollar, tenorist Al Acosta, and trumpeter Chris Thompson -- a strong three-horn frontline who really make the record sparkle!"
